Family Ties

We hope that this page will be updated on a regular basis as we feel it supports one of the goals of the WHHS Touchdown Club. As Walnut Hills draws students from all over the large geographic area of the Cincinnati Public Schools district, what is often lost is the tight relationships between the school and the local community. Those close to Cincinnati prep football are well familiar with the strong support St. Xavier, Elder, Western Hills and other schools receive from not only their local communities but from generations of alumni who maintain close ties to their alma mater. At Walnut Hills we have a tough job: embracing our alumni who are not only spread across the city from Madisonville to the West Side but across the country and world as well. Therefore, we want to bring all of you (current players, alumni, coaches, and community residents across this great city and nation of ours) to our site to form a virtual community in support of Walnut Hills High School football. We hope that all of you, whether you graduated from WHHS in 1954 or are just now entering 7th grade, will meet here where neighborhoods and traffic jams don't divide us. Let's bring this diverse and dispersed family back together. We can begin by visiting this site, by contributing to it and by supporting the Touchdown Club and its programs.

Our first installment of stories is about fathers and sons who played football at Walnut Hills. In just the first month of this site's existence, two stories have come to our attention: The first is about the Moskowitzs. Ira Moskowitz played football for Walnut Hills in the 1950s; his son Frank played in the 1980s. And as often happens in families - everyone has connections to everyone in some way. Our second story is about one of Frank Moskowitz's teammates - Chris White, whose son, Lawrence D. Wilson, played football for the Eagles in the late 90s and was a member of the 2000 team that narrowly missed the DII playoffs. Kenneth R. Burton II, who was a member of the 1980 PHSL championship team, is another story about fathers and sons at WHHS.

If you have a story to share with us, please let us know.
